It’s Mime Time! virtual theatre - Announcement - Ensemble Modern Mimes
Next week we welcome a guest who is very closely related to It's Mime Time:
Ensemble Modern Mimes with Katja Grahl and Pablo Volo. They present us an excerpt from their production “The Magic of Pierrot”, a mimic variety show. In a colorful direction by Katja Grahl, she and Pablo Volo play an unexpected and humorous reinvention of Pierrot in many different images.
Ensemble Modern Mimes - everything arises out of nowhere and couldn't be more colorful.
The beginning of the artistic work of the founder Katja Grahl lies in the Varieté. This influences her work to this day, many pieces enchant with their unusual joy of color. She completed her training as a mime and pantomime in the “Training Center for Mime and Mime” in Berlin with Jörg Brennecke. Among other things, it was strongly influenced by Decroux's Mime Corporel. This includes Decroux's minimalism in the acting through a focus on the essence of what is to be expressed. This is Katja Grahl's trademark: the combination of the design influenced by the Varité with Decroux’s physical theater.
Pablo Volo, director and trainer, is above all a polyglot artist whose career path ranges between circus, musical theater, opera and street theater. He describes himself as a “creative thinker”. He, too, developed a visually engaging theatrical typeface in theater, circus and art in public spaces. He completed his training in Paris at the Studio Mime Corporel Dramatique in Belleville and at the FAI-AR (Formation Avancée Itinérante des Arts de la Rue). With his carefree power of representation and his passionate energy there is always a touch of Commedia dell'arte in his performances.
On February 19th, 2021 we look forward to welcoming Ensemble Modern Mimes with their production “Message in a Bottle”.
