Bailgada Sharyat or Bullock cart race at Pune Festival_ archival

Bullock cart racing has been a popular tradition in some parts of Maharashtra and is known as Bailgada Sharyat or Shankarpat. This race is an integral part of the 'Pune Festival'. While this sport has now been banned in India, this is archival old footage of the practice. We certainly do not support the same and this footage is presented as an old archival record that confirms the need to ban the practice of bovine racing. The festival goes for ten days - starts with the installation of idols of Lord on the first day to the immersion of the Lord's idols on the tenth day.
