Testing for a weak or dead spark plug.

When your engine is misfiring, hard to start and heavy on fuel, do a quick check to see if one of the cylinder plugs is not weak or dead. Remove and replace the plug leads one by one while the engine is running. If a plug is dead or sparking weak, removing its plug lead will make little or no change to the engine idle speed. It is best to replace all spark plugs at the same time. A dry fouled plug can be cleaned and regapped, but a wet fouled plug needs to be replaced.
