Suresh Angadi, Junior Railways Minister died nearly two weeks after he tested positive for coronavirus infection. He was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi after his condition worsened. He was the first Union Minister and the fourth MP to die due to COVID-19 infection. President Ram Nath Kovind expressed shock at the news of his demise. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted saying that Suresh Angadi was ‘an exceptional Karyakarta’. Manish Sisodia, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister who had tested positive for novel COVID-19 on September 14, was hospitalised on September 23 after he complained of fever. The 48-year-old Aam Aadmi Party leader has been admitted to the state-run LNJP Hospital. Sisodia was being treated for the viral contagion in home isolation. India's COVID-19 case count has crossed the 56-lakh mark with a rise of 83,347 new cases on September 23. In the last 24 hours, 1,085 deaths were recorded in the country, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total case count now stands at 56,46,011 including 9,68,377 active cases, 45,87,614 cured and discharged cases. A total of 90,020 people have died due to COVID-19 in India till now.
