Minneapolis Riots: George Floyd Death Leads To Protests In US Cities, Minneapolis Burns Overnight

Minneapolis in Minnesota, U.S. has seen a third night of rioting and arson as protesters torched a police station and looted stores in the city. Protests have erupted across many American cities after the death of 46-year old George Floyd, an African American at the hands of the police. The video of Floyd being manhandled and gasping for breath while policemen kneel on him has brought about fresh outrage against police brutality in the U.S. Rioting in Minneapolis also targeted the Minneapolis Police Department's 3rd Precinct, where Floyd died. George Floyd’s death at the hands of White policemen comes close on the heels of the Ahmad Arboury murder case. Arboury, an African American youth was stalked and killed by two white men, while he was out on his evening run. The two men were arrested months after his killing and only after videos of the killing brought outrage and protests on to the streets in Georgia. Protests across American cities have been chanting #BlacklivesMatter, a movement which originated in the African-American community, that campaigns against violence and systemic racism towards black people.
