CBI begins probe into Hathras case, team to reach village

CBI has taken over the probe into the Hathras alleged rape case and has begun its investigation. A CBI team of officials will be reaching the Hathras village where the incident took place on September 14. CBI had on Sunday registered an FIR and took over investigation into the alleged gangrape and murder of a Dalit woman last month in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. The central probe agency registered the FIR under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections related to gangrape and murder among others, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Now on Tuesday, a team of CBI officials is expected to reach the village of the Dalit family to begin its investigation into the case.
