Death threats to those refusing to pay

Organised protection rackets are instilling fear across Cape Town. Criminals are demanding fees of up to R20,000 per month from night clubs, and more recently hotels, commercial and even residential properties. The hospitality and tourism industry has already been hard-hit by lockdown regulations. Many are too scared to speak out publicly and are appealing to police and the Hawks to save them.
