Big floods come to break a dam on a big river in Heilongjiang.
Dam failure on a major river in northeastern China occurs due to flooding during storms for several days.

Large floods that hit the Mudan River (or Mudanjiang) cause a dam to break down in Yilan district, a suburb of Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province, China, on September 11, Xinhua News Agency news.

The rupture of the dam on Mudan River reached about 80 meters.

The dam failure on Mudan River occurred after days of continuous stormy rain in the area. Mudan River is the largest tributary in the middle of the Tung Hoa River. Mudan River has a length of more than 700 kilometers, flowing through two provinces of Heilongjiang and Jilin province of China.

Information about the dam failure in Heilongjiang, Xinhua said, officials evacuated residents just before dangerous floods threatened. Residents in two riverside villages were evacuated to safe locations. No casualties were recorded following the dam failure.

The worst floods since 1998 that China has faced this year caused losses of up to 29 billion dollars, on September 11, Asia Insurance Review quoted a Chinese official.
