Air pollution in parts of Hong Kong was recorded as being “serious”, the highest level on the government’s scale, on September 3, 2020. The problem was expected to persist despite scattered thunderstorms rolling through the city. The pollution report came as the Hong Kong Observatory noted that the city is experiencing its hottest summer since records were first kept in 1884.
