Dr. Joye Carter, who has more than 30 years of experience in the field of forensic pathology, rates the realism of autopsy scenes in popular movies.
Carter was the first Black female chief medical examiner in the United States. Carter is also the author of "My Strength Comes From Within" and "I Speak for the Dead." She is a former deputy chief medical examiner of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner Department, former chief medical examiner of the District of Columbia, and former chief medical examiner of Harris County, Texas.
Carter rates the realism of long-running medical dramas such as "House" (2009), "NCIS" (2017), and "CSI: NY" (2009), as well as fantasy shows like "Snowpiercer" (2020) and "Heroes" (2007). She breaks down postmortem scenes in "Se7en" (1995), "The Autopsy of Jane Doe" (2016), "Contagion" (2011), and "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991). She also assesses if there's any element of truth to fantasy and sci-fi autopsy scenes in "Blade II" (2002) and "Independence Day" (1996).
