China has vowed to give the Philippines priority access to COVID-19 vaccine once it's developed, responding to a request from President Rodrigo Duterte himself.
China's foreign ministry spokesperson announced the pledge Tuesday saying that the two countries have been working together closely during the pandemic.
President Duterte had said in his State of the Nation Address on Monday that he'd pleaded with President Xi Jinping to make sure the Philippines is among the first to get a vaccine.
The Philippines has had more than 83-thousand cases of the virus in total and nearly two-thousand deaths.
