Beijing confirms the United States has ordered China to close its Houston consulate, in what it called a "outrageous and unjustified move" that will further harm diplomatic relations.

"On July 21st, thhe US abruptly demanded that China's consulate general in Houston cease all operations and events," says foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, adding the move is "a political provocation".
