Without Baseball, There Are a Lot of Unsold Peanuts Sitting in Cold Storage Right Now
  • 4 years ago
During a normal year, Major League Baseball teams would've played close to 80 games by now.But this isn't anywhere close to being a normal year, for obvious reasons.MLB commissioner Rob Manfred announced that baseball will be coming back with a shortened 60-game season. All of the games will, of course, be played in empty ballparks with zero fans in attendance.Perhaps surprisingly, that means the peanut industry has a serious problem on their hands.According to "Sports Illustrated," Major League Baseball fans eat 4-7 million bags of peanuts a year. The National Peanut Board is currently trying to figure out what to do with all of those nuts.Don't forget about them. They make a tasty snack, and you can always leave them out for backyard wildlife
