Surinamese authorities could have seen in many mercury poisoned places in the world what is coming up to Suriname by the gold mining activities in the interior.
This video shows how mercury pollution dating from the goldrush times more than 100 years ago is still affecting the life of indigenous people in California. From 1849 - 1869 the goldfield regions of California were severely poisoned, a human disaster and a "writing o­n the wall" for all Surinamers as well as for all friends of this marvellous tropical country.
