During the last quarter of the century there has been a radical change in the social fabric of our country. There has been a gradual disintegration of the joint family system and emergence of ‘nuclear family’. Reflecting the rise of the nuclear families in urban India, these households are small in size—88 percent have three to four members with no senior citizens and just 11 percent have more than two children.

समय बीता, कालखंड बदला. लोगों ने तरक्की की राह पकड़ी और विकास की गाड़ी पर आगे बढ़ने लगे. लेकिन वो जैसे-जैसे विकास की गाड़ी पर आगे बढ़ते गए अपनों का साथ छूटते चला गया. मतलब परिवार टूटता चला गया. संयुक्त परिवार एकल परिवार में बदल गया. एकाकी परिवारों की जीवनशैली ने दादा-दादी और नाना-नानी की गोद में खेलने और लोरी सुनने वाले बच्चों का बचपन छीनकर उन्हें मोबाइल का आदी बना दिया। गांवों में रोजगार का अभाव होने ने लोगों को शहरों की ओर पलायन को मजबूर कर दिया. बच्चे शहर में बस गए और बूढ़े मां-बाप पीछे छूट गए.
