1. European Parliament approves EU-Vietnam Free Trade Deal
The EU-Vietnam free trade agreement (EVFTA) has been approved by European Parliament. EVFTA, which includes binding rules on climate, will gradually eliminate almost all customs duties, and brings EU a step closer in trade with Southeast Asia.

2. Cambodia's garment sector affected by coronavirus outbreak
Four textile factories in Cambodia employing around 3,000 workers have suspended operations because of delays in supply of raw materials from China caused by the coronavirus outbreak, according to the country’s labour ministry.

3. French law to stop unsold goods from being thrown away
French parliament recently passed an anti-waste law to prohibit designer clothes and luxury goods firms from destroying unsold or returned products. France has already banned supermarkets from throwing away unsold foods and forced them to donate them to charities.

4. US FAM Brands acquires contemporary women's brand Wildfox
Los Angeles based apparel manufacturer FAM Brands recently announced acquiring Wildfox, a contemporary women's apparel brand. The company has taken over design, production and manufacturing, to seamlessly continue the line of retro-inspired collections and accessories.

5. ASICS invests in No new folk studio for smart shoe
ASICS Ventures Corporation, has made investments in a Japanese startup No new folk studio. ASICS and No new folk studio are jointly making smart running shoes that give runners real time feedbacks on the changes in foot movement.

6. Maharashtra to guarantee ₹1800-cr loan by cotton body
The Maharashtra state cabinet recently agreed to guarantee a ₹1,800-crore loan required by the Maharashtra State Cooperative Cotton Growers Marketing Federation. The guarantee will be for the loan the federation will take from Bank of India at an annual interest rate of 7.75% for ensuring timely payments to farmers on purchase of cotton in the 2019-20 season.

7. China slashes tariffs on 1700 US goods
As part of Phase 1 trade deal signed with the US last month, China has announced that it will halve import tariffs on 1,700 US goods. It means China will halve additional tariffs on $75 billion worth of US imports. The decision will help China in reviving its economy which is being affected due to the outbreak of Coronavirus attack.
