Remote Hong Kong fishing village calmly carries on without masks amid coronavirus outbreak

As people in the urban areas of Hong Kong grapple with a rising number of coronavirus infections, residents of the remote fishing village of Tai O appeared to be shrugging off worries about the outbreak. On a visit to the area west of Lantau Island on February 9, 2020, few of the villagers were seen wearing masks and preferred seawater to hand sanitiser. But people in the historic tourist spot remain on edge, and wary about the possibility of a visitor bringing the illness to their community.
