Budget 2020: Expect government to treat auto industry as a champion industry, says Maruti Suzuki

In a special series budget countdown, today we look at the expectations of the auto industry. 2019 was the worst year for the auto sector in about 20 years. Passenger vehicle (PV) sales fell 16 percent, two-wheeler sales also fell by 16 percent and commercial vehicle sales fell 21 percent. M&HCV sales fell the most by 36 percent. The industry is also focused on making a smooth transition to BS-VI before the March 31 deadline. Rajan Wadhera, president Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Vinod Aggarwal, MD and CEO, VECV and Shashank Srivastava, senior executive director at Maruti Suzuki shared their expectations of India's auto industry from budget 2020.
