Glaucoma is an eye disease in which the pressure of the eye Increases and Rises so as to damage the optic nerve behind it has to be tackled immediately because glaucoma is a silent killer of sight. Glaucoma normally occurs after the age of 40 so every person after the age of 40 should get and an eye checkup done and get the high pressure examine. glaucoma should be treated immediately and as soon as it is detected in a normal person the pressure of the eye is within the range of 15 to 20 millimeters of mercury If the pressure goes higher than 20 millimeters of mercury then there is a chance of developing glaucoma and eye doctor should be concerned If the pressure of the eye goes above 20 and this can only be detected on a routine eye examination at the eye doctors clinic now I am going to show you a video about how the glaucoma occurs and What exactly is the technique of solving the problem, this is the normal structure of the eye, and you can see the fluid of the eye circulating inside. This is the ciliary body which secretes the fluid of the eye the ciliary body secretes the fluid and this fluid circulates inside the eye The normal circulation of the fluid occurs through this angle of the chamber and It gets excreted out from this angle If there is a blockage here, then you develop glaucoma if the blockage occurs in the secretion and the excretion of the fluid then the pressure will build up and because of the increased pressure There will be damage to the optic nerve behind. In glaucoma this the fluid which is you can see that this is getting circulated and it is coming out through the ciliary body and there is a pressure which is generated But when the blockage is there the pressure increases, and it damages the optic nerve behind and because of the damage to the optic nerve the vision slowly deteriorates and can even lead to blindness glaucoma can be treated with laser surgery here you can see that the laser is given and the Blockage is opened with the laser, and this is called as laser trabeculoplasty. This has the fluid then to circulate and come out of the eye easily Once glaucoma is detected. It is very important to check the eye pressure and Regular intervals so as to prevent damage to the eye and the optic nerve So one must frequently visit the doctor as and when the patient is called for also, it is very important to put eye drop to control the eye pressure and Not to forget putting them at any given point of time. The first mode of treatment of glaucoma is to put drops that will control the eye pressure The other methods of treatment are laser and surgery. Laser surgery will help to control the eye pressure by means of a treatment called laser trabeculoplasty. The other mode of treatment is surgery where we create a Drainage passage for the fluid to circulate out of the eye.
