'I was raising issue of basic rights in J&K': Girl who protested holding 'Free Kashmir' placard

Protest erupted at Mumbai's Gateway of India over JNU violence. A girl was seen protesting with 'Free Kashmir' placard, which sparked controversy and FIR was also registered against her. The girl said her name is Mehak and she is a writer by profession. She issued a clarification by saying that "narrative put around the situation is absolutely fake". "Like anybody else who believes in democracy I joined the protest, there were several people who were protesting. I saw a bunch of people who were painting placards, be it of NRC, CAA, JNU and then I saw a 'Free Kashmir' placard. I want to clarify I am not a Kashmiri and I am a Maharashtra," said Mehak. "So when I saw this placard, I realised why we were there, it was to raise voice for basic human rights, and right now internet shutdown since last 5 months, they have completely lost that right, so I was protesting for peace," she stated further.
