Students and teachers attacked during rampage at top university in India’s capital New Delhi

A masked mob armed with sticks and rods stormed the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University in the Indian capital New Delhi on January 5, 2020. At least 23 people were injured in the attack, which followed a student protest on campus against India’s controversial citizenship law.  The attack was reportedly blamed on right-wing student groups linked to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling party, which introduced the new law in December 2019.
