Pampavathi, a young farmer from Kalikeri village in the Koppal district of Karnataka, refused to make his sick ox work and instead took it's place to carry a heavy cart of hay for almost one mile.

The filmer told Newsflare: "He found that one of the oxen was running a temperature and was unable to pull the cart.

"He took pity on the animal and decided not to make it work.

"Instead, he pulled the cart along with the other ox and took the hay to his home, nearly a mile away."
