This is the tragic story of a 48 year old lady from west Bengal who sustained a fracture of her patella (knee cap bone) which was managed at Malda, W.Bengal. Following this incident, she had limping for over 6 months. An xray revealed that the fractured patella (knee cap bone) was removed, instead of fixing it. Removal of the patella is a totally outdated technique by more than 15 years.
Our team of ortho and plastic surgeons examined her and identifieds that the quadriceps muscle was also stretched and lax. She was operated for adhesiolysis and plastic reconstruction of the quadriceps knee extension mechanism and the patient started walking again without a limp.
