Toyota Cuts More Production Jobs

Toyota Motor Corporation is cutting North American production of its best-selling cars, including the Camry and Corolla sedans. The cuts are being made in response to slumping sales and rising inventories.

Even with an attention grabbing zero-percent financing offer, Toyota's US auto sales dropped 34 percent last month. Just like its smaller rivals, Toyota has been ill-affected by the low demand for cars and trucks in the US.

To help offset the losses, Toyota plans to idle assembly plants for more days than expected. Plants in Georgetown, Kentucky; Princeton, Indiana; and Fremont, California, are among those affected said spokesman Mike Goss.

Previously, Toyota had only planned to shut down US assembly plants on December 22nd and 23rd.
