It is being told that the soldier Anil Kumar was doing duty on the platform number 7 at 10:30. At the same time, he saw 55-year-old Baban Sonawane, who was going to jump from platform number 6 on the track and catch the Shalimar Express coming at number 7. Sonawane's wife and children were already on platform number 7. Seeing the train coming, Sonawane's wife and children started shouting.

ठाणे स्टेशन पर एक आरपीएफ जवान ने खुद की जान पर खेलते हुए एक यात्री को बचा लिया। आरपीएफ जवान अनिल कुमार ने प्लेटफॉर्म पर लगे सीसीटीवी कैमरे में कैद हो गया। बताया जा रहा है कि जवान अनिल कुमार रात साढ़े 10 बजे 7 नंबर प्लैटफॉर्म पर ड्यूटी कर रहे थे। उसी दौरान उनकी नजर 55 वर्षीय बबन सोनवणे पर पड़ी, जो की प्लेटफॉर्म नंबर 6 से पटरी पर छलांग लगाकर 7 नंबर पर आ रही शालीमार एक्सप्रेस पकड़ने जा रहे थे। सोनवणे की बीवी और बच्चे पहले से ही प्लेटफॉर्म नंबर 7 पर थे। ट्रेन आते देख सोनवणे की बीवी-बच्चे चिल्लाने लगी।
