Russian e-commerce market grows despite a slumped economy

Russian shopper Galina Goryushina has not set foot inside a shop for a long time. Instead she makes all her purchases online, contributing to the growth of a sector that's booming despite a slumped economy and prohibitive logistical challenges in the world's largest country. In the rest of Russia, long distances and low population density also contribute to the appeal of e-commerce.
While Russia's economic growth has flatlined for years and amounted to 0.7% in the first six months of 2019, e-commerce has increased by 26%, according to a study by Russia-based Data Insight research agency.
