Top U.S. official on East Asia urges N. Korea to create better negotiating environment

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, David Stilwell, says he believes North Korea should not set a deadline for a so-called 'new calculation' method on denuclearization.
According to a transcript released by the State Department this week,... Stilwell made the remarks on October 26th during a visit to Tokyo.
He said North Korea has the ability to bring the U.S. to the negotiating table,... but setting up a deadline does not help that process.
Stilwell added that it's a technique the regime has used in the past,... and should continue to push for dialogue instead of setting deadlines.
