UK and EU Reach Brexit Deal
.
On Oct. 17, European and British negotiators
reportedly struck a draft deal on Brexit. .
According to Prime Minister Boris Johnson,
the deal is good “both for the E.U. and the U.K.”.
This deal represents a very good deal both for the E.U. and the U.K. … Now is the moment for us to get Brexit done and then together to work on building our future partnership, Boris Johnson, via ‘The Washington Post’.
E.U. Commission President
Jean-Claude Juncker also
praised the deal, saying it
provides “certainty.”.
This deal provides certainty, where Brexit creates uncertainty … the deal is not about us -- the deal is about people and peace. , Jean-Claude Juncker, via 'The Washington Post'.
The U.K. Parliament will now gather on Saturday
to vote on the proposed “Withdrawal Agreement.”.
A number of opposition parties are already
criticizing the deal however, with the Labour Party
calling it an “even worse deal than Theresa May’s.”.
The Northern Irish Democratic Unionist Party (DUP)
has also released a statement against the deal. .
As things stand, we could not support what is
being suggested on customs and consent issues,
and there is a lack of clarity on VAT … We will
continue to work with the government to try
and get a sensible deal that works for Northern
Ireland and protects the economic and
constitutional integrity of the United Kingdom, Northern Irish Democratic Unionist
Party (DUP), via statement
