Extinction Rebellion protesters in London demand interview with BBC
- 5 years ago
Extinction Rebellion protesters made their demands to the BBC as they occupied the area outside BBC Broadcasting House in central London on Friday afternoon (October 11).
Protesters were given a microphone to make their demands. Many demanded an interview with the BBC, and a considerable number demanded it be broadcast live tonight. Some called for it to be broadcast on all of the BBC channels at prime time.
Another demand made during the assembly was a film to be broadcast on the BBC made by Extinction Rebellion which the group would have editorial control over.
Demonstrators sat in the crowd showed their support for the demands with applause and jazz hands.
Two protesters have occupied the roof at the BBC, where an Extinction Rebellion flag was draped over the corporation's signage.
There was a short spat between the demonstrators when a moderator informed some that wanted to speak that they had run out of time.
