Fidel Castro offends Spain during a speech 1990
  • hace 5 años
Cuba: Fidel Castro made these statements to the business manager of the Spanish embassy in Havana, Ignacio Ruperes, who in the absence of the ambassador remains at the head of the diplomatic headquarters. Castro and Ruperes met 10 minutes at the Embassy of Peru to coincide in the reception offered by the Andean country ambassador to celebrate the inauguration of President Alberto Fujimori. The Cuban president said he had never wanted to offend the government and the Spanish people with his speech last Friday and added that he trusted the dialogue to find a quick solution to the problem of the 18 refugees. On the other hand Ignacio Ruperes at the end of the short interview said that this had occurred in very cordial terms. Parallel to the Spanish foreign minister, Francisco Fernandez Ordoñez said yesterday in Lima where he attended the inauguration of Alberto Fujimori that although the dialogue between the Cuban and Spanish authorities continues, there is no variation that can make think of a quick solution of the conflict.
