Iron Butterfly - Filled With Fear (1969) / Ernest Gold - Dies Irae, paired with The Screaming Skull (1958)

This is track 8 from Side Two of Iron Butterfly's album, Ball, released in January 1969, featuring the fabulously eerie lead guitar work of the late Erik Brann.

The video is a tribute to one of the few films ever made that actually frightened me during my preteen years. Not for those suffering from Cartilogenophobia, Ostiophobia or desktop skulls. Have fun.

Note: "Dies Irae" (day of wrath, day of hate). Originally a Latin chant from the 13th Century, put to use by many later composers. This version is based on a movement for tubas from Symphonie Fantastique by composer Hector Berlioz and orchestrated for the film introduction to The Screaming Skull by Ernest Gold (later to be adapted more memorably for the film, The Shining, by Wendy Carlos).
