London protestors stand in solidarity with Hong Kong after ban on masks announced
  • 5 years ago
Londoners rallied in Trafalgar Square on Friday evening (October 4), standing in solidarity with protesters in Hong Kong demonstrating against the new face mask ban.

Chief Executive of Hong Kong Carrie Lam invoked a colonial-era emergency law, banning all kinds of facial covering at public assemblies. The protesters in Hong Kong see this as an attack on their freedom. Today is the last day the demonstrators in Hong Kong can wear face masks legally.

The protesters in London chanted "no mask ban" and "we are not rioters". At one point, a Chinese flag is thrown onto the ground and several protesters take the moment to step on it.
