The 12th Daegu International Jazz Festival is now in full swing.
Recognized as a creative city of music by UNESCO,... the festival is the perfect way for the southeastern city to usher in the changing of the seasons,... from the sizzling summer to the cool breeziness of fall.
Kan Hyeong-woo went to check it out and files this report.
Back for its 12th edition, the Daegu International Jazz Festival has just the right music for the cooler autumn weather.

"The fact that you guys have it for four days I think… and that it's free, too. Or that anybody can just kind of come and enjoy the music, I think it's wonderful. The artists that you've had come in and perform, they've given everybody a really good show and I've really enjoyed it myself."

Taking place at a number of venues across the southeastern city of Daegu, including the Suseongmot Lake and the Dongseongno street,... the jazz festival has invited some twenty artists from both within and outside of South Korea.

"To us, this is a very meaningful experience. This is our first time playing in South Korea. So I hope that our music brings some joy and some positivity to everybody here. And we are hoping to bring people together using music."

Daegu has been supporting its music sector by establishing several cultural infrastructure and working with major European theaters to develop exchange programs for musicians.
The city became a member of UNESCO's 32 creative music cities in 2017.

"In case you missed out on the concerts earlier this week, there's still time left to enjoy some jazz as the festival will run through Saturday with more performances here at Suseongmot Lake. Kan Hyeong-woo, Arirang News, Daegu."
