This is the heartbreaking moment a Hurricane Dorian victim returned to his family home after it was destroyed by the storm.

Raymond King went back to check his house after a tornado triggered by Dorian ravaged their neighbourhood in Dundas Town, Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, on Tuesday (September 3).

The remnants of his property were shown in a video he took.

Raymond said that he and his family ran out for safety after the tornado ripped off the roof.

"We don't need appliances, we don't need material things, we need to get off Abaco ASAP. There is no gas station, no bank, no food stores."

Hurricane Dorian was today lashing North Carolina with heavy rain, flooding, high winds and tornadoes. It is forecast to impact southeast Virginia and southeast Massachusetts on Friday and Saturday.

The Category 2 hurricane had winds of up to 100mph extending out some 220 miles.
