La Salle beats NU; FEU sweeps UP

MANILA, Philippines – The De La Salle Lady Spikers turned a much-hyped showdown into a statement victory as they disposed of the NU Lady Bulldogs in just three sets. In the first meeting between the two title favorites, the three-time defending champions La Salle set the tone right from the first set, taking advantage of a jittery and error-prone NU squad. Billed as a potential Final Four preview, it turned out to be a disappointing performance for the NU Bulldogs, who struggled with their reception and floor defense. Meanwhile, the FEU Tamaraws made short work of a sluggish UP squad to bag their second victory in the tournament.
