Labour’s Diane Abbot was among thousands protesting in London against Boris Johnson's decision to suspend parliament.
The demonstrators were gathered outside Downing Street but similar protests are being held around the UK.
The Prime Minister defended his decision, saying efforts to frustrate Brexit would be seized on by the EU to avoid giving Britain a good exit deal.
