Nixon Peabody, the Boston-based national law firm, scored a perfect 100 in the Human Rights Campaign’s 2009 Corporate Equality Index. The report rated 584 businesses in 35 industries on their performance with regard to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality issues. Nixon Peabody offers full benefits to the domestic partners of its employees. It also has a Diversity Action Committee, as well as specific affinity groups, one of which specializes in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transsexual, or GLBT issues. The firm’s affinity groups are inclusive, meaning they are open to any employee that has an interest in joining. The GLBT Affinity Group attends outside events, both locally and around the country, pertaining to the GLBT community. Recently, GLBT Affinity Group members from around the country traveled to attend the annual Lavender Law Career Fair in San Francisco. The fair allows GLBT-friendly law firms to showcase their diversity programs to GLBT law school students.
