Loeb & Loeb Cuts Eight Associates

Loeb & Loeb said the downsizing was part of their "periodic attorney evaluation process and assessment of its overall personnel needs in its various practice areas." The eight associates will receive a "standard severance package" that depends on their length of service. Some firms have admitted the associate layoffs are spurred by the slow economy. Others have said their cuts are performance-related. The firm is continuing to hire, and expects to end 2008 with more attorneys than it had last January. New York-based Loeb & Loeb has 310 attorneys, about half of whom are associates.
