The Smell of Grass Burning is a Vietnam psychosocial war movie. The context of the film's main event is set in the summer in 1972 with a battle in Quang Tri Citadel.
The main characters of the film are four university students of Hanoi including Hoang, Thanh, Thang, Long. They follow the order of the general mobilization to enlist in 1971 and finally join battle in Quang Tri citadel in 1972.
In this place, Thanh, Thang, Long sacrifice; ony Hoang fortunately survives the battle and returnes to Hanoi. The film is told from memories of Hoang when he pays a visit to the old battlefield.
