New sarcophagus encasing Chernobyl nuclear power plant unveiled

A new metal dome encasing the destroyed reactor at Chernobyl has been unveiled. The mobile sarcophagus is designed to prevent further radioactive material leaking out over the next century. It measures a colossal 275m (900ft) wide and 108m (354ft) tall, and cost a total of €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion). Meanwhile, while a new cover is slid on, 33 years after the tragedy, a hero of the disaster is finally being rewarded for his efforts.
