A group of South Korean lawmakers have proposed to North Korea that their parliaments meet for talks.
The leader of the South Korean delegation, Sul Hoon, who is a veteran lawmaker with the Democratic Party, said today that he met recently with the vice chairman of North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly, Pak Kum-hui, when they were both at an international conference in Russia.
Sul said he made the proposal so that the parliaments of the two sides can support the peace process... that was recently given fresh life with the meeting at the DMZ of the leaders of South and North and the U.S.
He said the North Korean delegation received the proposal "positively."
Sul said he also pressed the North Koreans on the need to resume tours to the North and to reopen the joint industrial complex.
