Ahead of the G20 Summit in Japan at the end of this month and a meeting of G20 trade ministers at the end of this week, commerce & industry minister Piyush Goyal wants India to set bigger trade targets. Meanwhile, a high level advisory group on trade that was set up by the commerce ministry in 2018, has concluded that that to double its exports to over USD 1000 billion by 2025, India needs an annual exports growth rate of 10 percent. In the last 5 years, exports have grown at a dismal rate of 2 percent, much below the country's target rate. To discuss this CNBC-TV18 spoke to former commerce secretary Rajeev Kher.
