Disney Takes Full Control of Hulu in Deal With Comcast Disney will takeover the streaming
platform after buying Comcast's stake
in the service. Comcast will sell the stake for
nearly $6 billion within the next half decade. The deal allows Comcast to keep licensing media on the streamer
into 2024. Starting in 2020, they can pull exclusively licensed content featured on Hulu. Disney CEO Bob Iger, via statement Iger adds that Disney will use
its brands to enhance Hulu's
services for subscribers. The streamer is seen as
a key part of Disney's future
with entertainment services. By 2024, Disney CFO Christine McCarthy says they expect Hulu to climb to 60 million subscribers. Currently, the streamer
has nearly 27 million
paid users.
