Britons spend an estimated 15% of their income on food, but families in countries affected by armed conflict spend as much as 75% In northern Afghanistan, conflict and drought have combined to cause a humanitarian crisis, with around 280,000 people relying on the International Committee of the Red Cross for food aid.
