The former secretary general of the UN, Ban Ki-moon says he will accept the chairmanship of South Korea's national committee on fighting air pollution.
The presidential office in Seoul says Ban accepted President Moon Jae-in's offer on Saturday when he met with the president's chief of staff, Noh Young-min.
The former UN chief reportedly told Noh that he was pleased to be given an opportunity to help the cause,... but also said he feels a burden in that he might not be able to meet the expectations of the Korean people.
The anti-air pollution committee was proposed earlier this month by the leader of the minor opposition Bareunmirae Party,... and the President agreed to it.
