After Ronaldo converted an 86th-minute penalty to complete his hat-trick and an unlikely turnaround, he was seen grabbing his crotch area while celebrating.
Simeone had celebrated the same way after Jose Gimenez scored the first of two late goals in Atletico’s 2-0 victory in the first leg.
The Argentine’s celebration resulted in a £17,000 fine by UEFA, which could also land Ronaldo in hot water.
But Simeone did not have a problem with the former Real Madrid star’s gesture.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in the world, he can put in these performances on big nights,” he said.
“He will have seen how I did it at the Wanda Metropolitano and, like me, was trying to show his character.”
Juventus conceeded to the quarterfinal with the 3:2 win against Atletico on aggregate.
