Beef ban has polarised Jammu and Kashmir on the regional and religious lines. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has brazenly threatened to enforce economic blockade of the Valley, if the assembly allows a discussion to revoke provisions criminalizing bovine slaughter and sale of beef in the state. While Independent MLA Rashid Engineer has sought support of NC and PDP on the abolition of Beef ban.
