Sensational robbery in Haryana, bank looted by digging 125-feet tunnel

In a unique style of bank robbery, probably emulated from the Bollywood film series Dhoom, a group of robbers in Haryana dug a 125 feet tunnel to reach the strong room of a bank and looted cash and jewelery worth crores of rupees in Haryana's Gohana township.

However, the robbery was discovered only on Monday morning, although police suggest that the crime was committed between Saturday night and early Monday. The manager of the bank said that the robbers were successful in breaking 90 of the 360 lockers at the strong room.

Interestingly, the tunnel was dug from an abandoned building located across a lane of the Punjab National Bank branch at the old bus stand locality of the township. Police have found two rooms in the bank filled with the tunnel dirt. The robber had, in fact, blocked the windows so that they are cut off from the outside view.
