Communal violence debate in Lok Sabha, Congress slams NDA

Congress on Wednesday raised the issue of communal violence in the Parliament. Congress demanded an early debate on communal violence in the country and questioned the delay in holding it, prompting the Speaker to warn it against casting aspersions on the Chair. Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi on Monday had said that Communal violence in the country are increasing after formation of Narendra Modi-led NDA government. Whereas, AIADMK's M Thambidurai elected unopposed as Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha.

War of words in Lok Sabha on communal violence. Leader of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge says that instances of riots have increased after NDA government assumed charge. However, he said that they are not claiming government is behind Imams. Yogi Adityanath of BJP slams Congress on the question of appeasement politics. He claims that Hinduism is not a communal religion and it is currently under threat.
