Chief Vigilance Commissioner recuses self from coal scam probe

Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) Pradeep Kumar on Thursday sought to withdraw from the team asked by Supreme Court to examine 20 such cases of coal block allocation scam where senior CBI officers sought closure while investigating officers wanted registration of FIRs.
The top court asked the CVC to file a formal plea. Kumar sought withdrawal since he worked as a joint secretary in the coal ministry between 2003 and 2006.
